Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, known by many as the namesake of J.S. Bach’s famous Goldberg Variations, was an eccentric and formidable composer in his own right and one of J.S. Bach’s most prodigious protégés. The program, which celebrates the release of REBEL’s latest CD, ‘Johann Gottlieb Goldberg: Beyond the Variations’ features trio sonatas for strings and bass of Goldberg and J.S. Bach interspersed with selected variations from Bach’s masterpiece as well as keyboard preludes by Goldberg.
The performers are Jörg-Michael Schwarz & Karen Marie Marmer, violins, John Moran, cello and Dongsok Shin, harpsichord. A fully-catered, meet-the-artists reception follows the concert.
Tickets may be purchased online via the REBEL website, members can RSVP to Laura.

ABOUT MUSICA ANTIQUA NOVA
early music for the modern age
MUSICA ANTIQUA NOVA is the Westchester County concert series of the baroque ensemble REBEL, performances of which take place in two historically notable and acoustically excellent venues in Westchester County: the Bedford Presbyterian Church in Bedford, NY and the Scarborough Presbyterian Church in Scarborough, NY. Three to four programs are presented annually, and often include guest artists of international repute.
The series aims to present both known and rarely if ever heard 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, performed on historical instruments of the period, in an intimate setting. Receptions often follow the concerts, at which the artists mingle freely with the audience.
